Port of Bar   42° 05' 14'' N, 19° 05' 02'' E

Bar is the largest city, municipality and port on the coast of Montenegro. It is a modern city with wide boulevards, surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation. It represents the biggest touristic and nautical center at the entrance to the Adriatic Sea.


The city of Bar is situated at the latitude of 42°05’ and the longitude of 19°06’ while its elevation is 4m.
Bar covers a surface area of 633 km2. Population 42 368 (census 2011).
The Port of Bar is located at the entrance of the Adriatic Sea, at a distance of 976 nautical miles (nm) from the Suez Canal and 1190 nm to Gibraltar. It has significant competitive advantages over the Northern Adriatic ports, shortening the transit-time and creating savings in the cost of maritime transport. It is integrated with the Belgrade-Bar railway and the road traffic network. The Port is an important link in the intermodal transport chain.

 

Marina Bar located in the heart of the bay, at 42⁰ 05’ N and 19⁰ 05’ E, has a very attractive geographical position. It is located in the pure city center, surrounded by beaches, hotels and restaurants.

Because of its favorable geographic position, this marina is perfect as either a starting point or ending point (given the availability of tax free fuel) for sailing the picturesque Montenegrin coast.

 

CLIMATE

The climate in Bar is very specific. Besides being one of the sunniest places in Southern Europe, with an average of 270 sunny days during the year, the climate is characterized by warm summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is 16 degrees Celsius. In July the average temperature is 23 degrees C, and in January of 10 degrees C.

Port of Kotor   42° 25’ 33’’ N, 18° 46’ 00’’ E

Located along one of Montenegro’s most beautiful bays is Kotor, a city of traders and famous sailors with many stories to tell.

 

The Old City of Kotor is a well preserved urbanization typical of the middle Ages, built between the 12th and 14th century. Medieval architecture and numerous monuments of cultural heritage have made Kotor a UNESCO listed "World Natural and Historical Heritage Site". And right in front of the Main Gate, this picturesque old town houses the Port of Kotor. Typical for this sort of marina, the mooring system is "Med".

Dukley Marina Budva   42° 16' 49'' N, 18° 50' 18.6'' E

Dukley Marina is located in the heart of Budva’s Riviera, most handsome nautical destination. The marina is set against the backdrop of the historic old town of Budva. Is Montenegro’s summer metropolis.

 

Its coastline is 21 km long and contains numerous beautiful sandy beaches, extreme water sports, vibrant night life, and numerous casinos. Budva is a desirable destination for those seeking a fun time. It’s a town that does not sleep.

Port of Zelenika   42° 27' 00'' N, 18° 34' 15'' E

SAILING INTO PORT

Great depth on the approach to the harbor and the waters of the port, in the absence of obstacles for navigation allow smooth and safe sail into the harbor. Depth at the piers are large: the NW pier minimum depth along the coast is 6.6 meters, while the S pier minimum depth of 7.7 meters along the coast. It should be noted that the moorings in the harbor are exposed to S and SW winds and waves that these winds create.

 

BERTHING & ANCHORAGE

Port of Zelenika has functions as commercial ports registered for international maritime traffic and the function of the border crossing where foreign marine vessels (pleasure crafts) carry out the necessary procedures for entering the waters of Montenegro. The border crossing is using NW pier port 134 meters in length and separated by a fence from the rest of the port. On the pier of the border crossing there are eight bollards for mooring, two connections for power and two port connection for loading fuel and hydrants for water. Port is using SW pier length of 130 meters. On the pier there are nine bollards for berthing, two connection for power and water hydrants. Large ships can anchor in the area between Zelenika and Kumbor and this is the best place for anchorage in Herceg Novi bay.

 

TIDES

On the Montenegrin coast medium amplitude of tides (the difference of medium high water and medium low water) is 23 cm. Medium amplitude, between the middle-higher high water and middle-lower low water is 29 cm. The amplitude between the highest monthly and lowest monthly middle value is 64.1 cm. Absolute registered extremes in relation to the hydrographic level at which they reduced the depth of the charts are 87 cm above and 42 cm below the hydrographic level. It follows that the maximum amplitude of the registered changes in sea level off the coast of Montenegro, caused by tides 131 cm. The water level in average rises highest in October, November and December, and the lowest value is lowered in the summer months.
